The Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica’s “little Amazon,” and nearby Matapalo, is the most unspoiled region in Costa Rica. Jacques Cousteau called its magnificent Golfo Dulce (sweet gulf) the most pristine of the world’s four tropical fjords. 75% of the Osa is either national park or forest preserve and contains 13 major ecosystems, including rainforests, lowland forests, cloud forests, mangrove and freshwater swamps, lagoons, beaches, coral reefs.

The ‘crown jewel’ of Costa Rica
Corcovado
National Park
World-famous Corcovado Park is one of the most significant natural preserves in the Northern hemisphere and is only about an hour’s beautiful drive from Casa Bambu.
Home to over 375 bird species, Corcovado is a birdwatchers paradise. There are also 850 unique and majestic tree species, 125 species of mammal, 40 species of freshwater fish, 50 bat species, 1,500 plant and fern species, more than 6,000 insect species and 117 species of reptiles and amphibians. Here you can find Costa Rica’s largest population of the endangered scarlet macaw and Central America’s largest population of squirrel monkey.
