We had a lovely stay and honeymoon at Casa Sonrisa. Just being there was a gift. We loved exploring the grounds around the house and being by the turquoise ocean. I stayed at Casa Bambu in 2006 and it was simply lovely to be nestled next to the ocean, but I really enjoyed Sonrisa because there is more opportunity to view wildlife up there, especially the tribes of monkey that seem to have regular pathways through the trees around the house. The rains sung us to sleep and the monos congos awakened us at dawn. I loved the poetry of discovery and the time to play, relax and enjoy, celebrate life …we were ecstatic to be in that paradise. It was truly a trip of a lifetime. Not only was the wildlife utterly amazing, but William (and his help Leda and Vicki) was just simply an amazing presence and companero: superb, patient with our lack of Spanish and above all, kind and generous with his time. I enjoyed having some time with him again. Corcovado with William was a gift. We were lucky to see baby green sea turtles along Corcovado beach. They were just emerging from their nest. So many more adventures! The wildlife refuge at Cana Blanca is an adventure not to be missed. Lapa Rios waterfall, the majestic sunrises on Playa Pan Dulce, the amazing array of wildlife you can see from Casa Sonrisa – monkeys move around that gem every day. Anyone who is excited about monkeys or wildlife in general, Casa Sonrisa is clearly one of the best houses there.

We had a wonderful stay at La Sonrisa. Everything about our visit was easy and straightforward. When we arrived we were stunned at how beautiful the house was. Everything in the house is done with great taste. The outside deck, the bed, the wooden tables and chairs, the great kitchen, the library of extra books that came in handy when we finished ours. I knew we made a smart decision to stay at Matapalo. It is less crowded and noisy, less touristy, than other parts of Costa Rica. A truly natural spot. All around the house is wildlife: lots of monkeys in the trees near the creek; agouti and coati; many birds. There are insects of course, but not bad. The netting on the bed is great, so we could sleep peacefully. We took three hikes with William, who is terrific and points out the wildlife. We also took out a kayak and sunbathed on the great beach. We would love to come back someday with children, as we know they would love it here among the animals and birds.

Your words of wisdom were just right! I can't tell you how smooth and trouble free the whole trip was. Everybody was fabulous in their being there and gracious in their making us feel welcome and comfortable. And of course, the opportunity to lounge around and take in the beauty and calm of La Sonrisa was just the right antidote for the heart and the soul. This was clearly a crowning event for our family. It gave true meaning to "Pura Vida." I hope the opportunity avails itself to once again visit your little piece of paradise and soothe the soul.

Thank you for creating this beautiful house. We had such a good time and enjoyed every minute. We appreciate your attention to detail: paper towels, toilet paper, beach chairs, boogie boards. We enjoyed a waterfall hike with William, Pan Dulce and Backwash beaches everyday. Surfing, swimming, the farmer’s market. William and the staff are just excellent and attentive!

Beautiful spot to stay. My favorite part of Costa Rica. The house is great, surrounded by inhabitants of the jungle. Sunrise on the porch, monkeys in the afternoon just swinging through, checking it all out. The low tide was amazing, just straight out from the house. Tidepools with some great little eco-systems. Nature walks and sleepy days in the hammock were great. We cooked some amazing meals in the primo kitchen and read books in the down time. Life is great and we are blessed.
In my all too brief stay within this paradise, I have reawakened the knowledge that GOD IS EVERYWHERE. The majesty of nature’s beauty is overwhelmingly everpresent and La Sonrisa, amongst such thriving life, sits as a golden bamboo throne. Deepest thanks to the builder and those that keep the place beautiful. I wished I didn’t have to leave so soon. The deepest of bows,
We came for our first anniversary and we had an awesome time. Our only complaint: we should have stayed longer! Everything is so beautiful and exotic.

We came back again! Third time is a charm – Pura vida! We saw lots of animals of course. All 4 species of monkey, pizotes, squirrels, toucans, macaws…so beautiful and interesting to watch. Walked to the King Louie waterfall…spent lots of time swimming, surfing, exploring. It’s always a pleasure to be in the Osa. We will certainly be back with our children someday.

Great place. Very pristine and great wildlife viewing from the house. The howler monkeys at 5 AM are a good wake-up call. It is very laid back and nobody seems to be in a hurry in this part of Costa Rica. William and the staff are great hosts and caretakers. William knows everything about this place, from the house to Corcovado National Park. Great photography here. This is a great place and I will be back soon.
What a wonderful first experience in Costa Rica. The view from the hammock was my favorite and by far my most frequented resting place. This was a great way to relax before heading back to the “real world” of work in the bustling big city. William and staff were spectacular hosts/hostesses. We were in special hands.
A beautiful spot, our first time to Costa Rica, our 20th wedding anniversary with our three grown children. It is a lovely spot. William, Leda and Vicki are wonderful. It was nice to have them there.

We had a wonderful time at Sonrisa and the girls were very pleased. William was very helpful and was great to work with.
The best thing about Sonrisa was that is was a literal highway for the morning monkey commute. Great times were spent just watching.
We will be back next year.
